Yes, it was a shock when the San Francisco Garden Club luncheon meetings were changed to Thursday. The question was: Why?
It turns out the biggest problem was one that all restaurants are facing: staff and the price of food. During the pandemic, PGCC lost most of their staff. Finding a new chef and a solid serving staff was difficult.
Their answer was to serve dinner at the club only on Thursday through Saturday. If we were to host our luncheons on Tuesday, they would have to hire a temp staff only for us. It would be cost-prohibitive.
Could we change our meeting day to Thursday when they have a full staff onboard? They could deliver the same service and increase the menu choices for a minimum price increase in order to cover their costs. It was a reasonable offer.
Once the luncheon day decision was made, it was easy to change all meeting dates to Thursday
So now, if it’s Thursday, it must be Garden Club Day. And now you know why!!
Luncheon cost is $69
